Cycling in the Cape Winelands has always been different from other routes, as the scenery and landscape is what draws cyclers to this region. We offer four different options for you to choose from and can be booked directly through our operations team. Have a look at some of our options below and check out which option would be most suitable. We are also able to tailor a personal itinerary for you, should you have special requirements.

1) Bike, wine and picnic tour
This easy paced tour will give you a little bit of each of the best things that Franschhoek has to offer, namely, the incredible scenery, the lovely wines, and the delicious food as you cruise along the 18km circuit.
This half day activity starts with a scenic ride on some little used roads, where you’ll ride close to the vineyards and have a spectacular backdrop of mountains.
You’ll then stop at one of our selected wineries in a lovely setting to taste some wines, which are among the most highly regarded in the Franschhoek area.
A further 25 minute ride takes you to our next Wine Estate, where you can enjoy a gourmet picnic next to the vineyards.
From there, it is a home stretch of about 2.5km back to the starting point where you’ll receive a complimentary souvenir bottle of locally produced red wine.
Your guide will have pannier bags attached to his bike with which he can carry up to a dozen bottles of wines in case you wish to purchase en route.
PRICE: R595 per person
Includes: Transport, bicycle & helmet rental, guide, one wine tasting, gourmet picnic and a complementary bottle of wine.

2) Wine Tour by Bike
If you really enjoy your wines and would like to try some from several different estates while enjoying the Franschhoek scenery (or feel guilty about not exercising enough while enjoying the fine dining in the area), this half day activity is for you.
Your guide will take you, via an easy, scenic route, to three different wine estates to enjoy some of Franschhoek’s high quality wines.
If you find something you really like, your guide will be able to carry up to a dozen bottles for you with his special carrier bags (don’t worry about weighing him down – he is most likely much fitter than you and needs the challenge!)
PRICE: R495 per person
Includes: Transport, bicycle & helmet rental, guide and three wine tastings.

3) Breakfast Tour
For the early riser and more accomplished rider (or more specifically, mountain biker!).
This tour will start at first light (6am in summer; 7.30am in winter) and your guide will take you to two viewpoints in this 2 hour ride. The first is your warm up hill, taking you to a hilltop with a great view of the village. You’ll then continue next to the vineyards, and then towards the mountains to get to the much tougher and longer second hill. This is a rough and winding gravel road, but your efforts are well rewarded as you arrive at the top to take a breather, and enjoy the stunning panoramic view as the sun rises over the mountains and the Berg River dam.
The hard part being over, you’ll now cruise back to the village to enjoy a hearty farmer’s breakfast with your choice of tea/coffee as well as a glass of juice.
Please note that your guide has a comprehensive knowledge of the natural surroundings, so feel free to ask any questions you may have in this regard!
PRICE: R495 per person
Includes: Transport, guide, bicycle & helmet rental, farmer’s breakfast.

4) Hike, Bike, Wine & Picnic Tour
For nature lovers who like a bit of good outdoor adventure, good wine, and good food all rolled into one day!
For starters, you will be dropped off at a nature reserve at the top of Franschhoek Pass.
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to learn something about the majestic Franschhoek mountains and the richest floral kingdom in the world, the Fynbos, as you take an hour-and-a-half long hike with a knowledgeable guide.
On arrival back at the starting point, your bike and helmet will be ready for a freewheel down Franschhoek Pass. Enjoy 7km of winding downhill with an incredible view of the Franschhoek valley.
You and the rest of your group will then gather at the Huguenot Monument, and your guide will lead you, still by bike, to an estate for a wine tasting in a beautiful Winelands setting. From here, you’ll continue by bike a little further down the valley to another estate where you can quell your built up appetite with a gourmet picnic lunch.
Here, you can relax completely and enjoy your ample meal until you are ready to be picked up and taken back to the village.
PRICE: R695 per person
Includes: Transport, guided hike, permit for Nature reserve, 500ml of still water, bicycle & helmet rental, one wine tasting and gourmet picnic.
