Franschhoek over the pass to Villiersdorp. From Villiersdorp there are two options. Take an off higway road to Genadendal and Greyton where we stop for coffee. We then travel to Riversonderend, Stormsvlei and on to Bredasdorp. A visit to the Maritime Museum to see just how dangerous this coastline has been and then on to Cape Agulas where we spend the night.
A walk through the V&A Waterfront to learn about the history of Cape Town and the evolution of the port area up to it’s present status. You will learn about the historical buildings such as the Time Ball Tower, Chavonnes Cannon Battery and the ancient defences of Cape Town that flip flopped between British and the Dutch occupation.
There are over 30 Mountain Passes in the Cape Region. They were built originally by the early settlers to provide access to farming land as well as to the indigenous Khoi herders who traded cattle. Over the years these passes have been improved for the wagons that took the early settlers to pastures new. Then came the railways and more recently the road transport vehicles.
